INTRODUCTION TO 3-D PRINTING
INTRODUCTION TO 3-D PRINTING – The East Smithfield Public Library is excited to announce our acquisition of a Dremel DigiLab 3DPrinter. You may have seen and heard about 3-D printers. Now, it is time for you to learn how to print your own designs. We encourage you to take advantage of this new service. We are here to help you get started. If you are not familiar with 3-D printing, it is the process of making a three-dimensional object from a digital file. The object is created by laying down successive layers of plastic material on top of each other until the print is created. You will learn about how to find files with items others have already designed that are free to download and ready to print. A short list of items we have already printed includes decorations, figurines, dice, game pieces, and toys. That list also contains practical things you can use in daily life such as an iPhone stand, thimbles, shirt buttons, cups, small kitchen gadgets, clamps, clips, and cookie cutters. See for yourself possibilities. We can’t wait to see what you will create! Register on our website. Space is limited. Future sessions will be held. If you want to learn when they are scheduled, email maker@espl.org. Upon completion of this introductory session, attendees will then be allowed to submit files to be printed.
